Jakob Gielen (b. 1966) has a Diploma in Business Administration and more than 20 years of business experience. He is a long-standing, successful business entrepreneur and the sole owner of the Gielen Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH (Gielen Limited Liability Investment Company). As managing partner in several companies within the portfolio, he is responsible for their commercial administration.
After completing his initial commercial training, Mr Gielen studied Business Management and Administration at the University of Cologne. Before embarking on his career as an independent entrepreneur, he was active within several sectors in the areas of Cost Accounting and Finance, as well as in leading positions in Investor Relations. In addition to his many other commitments, he played a leading role in what is today Deutsche Steinzeug Cremer & Breuer AG where until the middle of 2000 he was Head of Corporate Account Management, responsible for the establishment and expansion of Account Management within the entire group of companies. Simultaneously he was CFO of Matchbid AG, responsible for Finance, Human Resources and Legal Affairs.
Jakob Gielen has many years of experience in developing business plans. He specializes in the commercial modeling of a very wide range of business ideas which he himself has frequently implemented. With more than fifteen years of experience as Managing Director / Board Member, he is well versed in the leadership and development of organizations and personnel, and in dealing with shareholders and credit grantors (banks; venture capitalists; others). Serving as business angel and coach, he builds on his extensive knowledge in corporate management and organizational development as well as on his business experience to support founders / entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized businesses.
Mr. Gielen is a constituent member as well as member of the the executive board of the Rotonda Business Angels e.V., Cologne. He is furthermore a founding partner in the Logistics and SCM-Consulting Company Setlog GmbH, located in Bochum, Cologne and New York, in which he is responsible for Finance and Administration as well as Human Resources and Legal Affairs. In addition to this he is Chair of backbone management ag, Bonn – a company already founded in 2003 under another name – which seeks customized solutions for small and medium-sized business customers, regardless of the nature of the challenge.
After ten successful years as managing partner of GINO AG Elektronische Fabrik, Gielen has sold his shares in the company in 2010. He was however, still committed to the Company for the next five years until October 2015, serving as CFO, acting on behalf of the new majority shareholders. During his time at GINO he too was a member of the Board of Directors of the German-Chinese Joint-Venture Company SGT Shanghai Gino Telema Resistor Comp., in which founding he participated as well as he has done in an additional Joint-Venture-Company in Penza, Russian Federation.
